QAIA welcomes over 6.8 million passengers by end of October 2017

For the fifth month in a row, Queen Alia International Airport (QAIA) registered a growth in its number of passengers as it welcomed 599,683 passengers in October 2017, registering a significant 12.6% year-on-year leap in comparison to the same month of last year. According to October 2017 statistics announced by Airport International Group, QAIA also experienced an impressive 12.6% improvement in cargo figures compared to October 2016 by handling 9,950 tons. Meanwhile, the Airport recorded 5,536 aircraft movements (ACM), representing a year-on-year decrease of 1.7%.

Additionally, as of the end of October, QAIA had received a total of 6,802,053 passengers in 2017, resulting in a 6.6% year-to-date (YTD) increase in passenger traffic (PAX) in comparison to the same period in 2016. The Airport also registered a minimal 1.4% rise in YTD ACM figures, amounting to 63,445 by the end of October 2017. Moreover, QAIA handled 90,433 tons of cargo during the first 10 months of this year, effecting a significant 7.5% increase.

“We are pleased to see that October’s passenger traffic figures have increased for the fifth consecutive month in 2017, a winning streak by any means. Top destinations contributing to this growth included regional routes such as Cairo, Alexandria, Doha and Kuwait, as well as the ever-popular Turkey and Rome. Moreover, we aspire to see positive results in the winter months, during the upcoming holiday season,” said Airport International Group CEO, Kjeld Binger.
