The Macallan has unveiled Concept No. 1
Exclusive to global travel retail (GTR), The Macallan Concept No. 1 is inspired by surreal art and incorporates innovative production techniques to create an exciting new single malt.
The first release in a new, highly collectible, limited edition series celebrating the world’s visionaries by daring to disrupt the whiskey making process.
Created from whiskeys matured first in sherry-seasoned oak casks and then for equal time in ex-bourbon casks, The Macallan Concept No. 1 is crafted to explore maturation more imaginatively.
The knowledge and skills involved in creating this bold, exceptional single malt demonstrate The Macallan’s dedication to pursuing excellence and offering new experiences. It also reflects the unrivaled commitment to the mastery of wood and spirit for which The Macallan has been known since it was established in 1824.
Displaying a warm golden amber hue, The Macallan Concept No. 1 delivers sweet butterscotch tinged with almond and warming spices on the nose. Hints of dried fruit and citrus notes are also present. On tasting, the citrus flavours become more intense, with sweet orange and lemon bursting through, punctuated by ginger. The soft sweetness gives way to a dry oak finish.

Bottled at an ABV of 40% Macallan Concept No. 1 is presented in exclusive packaging featuring a surrealist design of The Macallan Six Pillars. It will be available exclusively in Dubai Duty Free from 1st December and selected GTR outlets throughout Asia, Australia, the Middle East, Europe, and the Americas from January 2019. It’s recommended selling price is US$125.
