Imperial seeks duty free executive as Jennifer Cords leaves company

By Hibah Noor

After seven years at Imperial Brands, Dr Jennifer Cords has decided to begin the next successful chapter of her career outside the company.

As a management team member taking care of more than 80 markets, Cords “translated” external requirements, tightening regulation, and even the impacts of political crisis (e.g. the Arab spring) or natural disasters (such as Hurricane Irma) into the world of the duty free division. But her passion is communication.

“Jennifer’s superhero-skill is authentic humor,” said Christian Münstermann, Global Duty Free’s Sales and Marketing Director.

Cords stated: “I love this feedback, it is quite unique when you consider that I am also leading the Compliance department, which sometimes is perceived as a fun-free environment.”

Münstermann added: “I speak on behalf of our regional teams from Athens, Hong Kong, Ft Lauderdale, Bristol and Hamburg: Jennifer leaves Imperial’s Duty Free team in a very strong position for future growth and we sincerely thank her for her contribution and leadership during her tenure as our global voice.”

Cords’ future plans are described as “a well-kept secret for now”.

“There is one thing which we can talk about,” continued Münstermann. “Imperial seeks a replacement. The new candidate should ensure continuity in protecting and promoting Imperial’s Duty Free business. I am happy to serve as a point of contact in case of interest.”
