JCDecaux nabs nine-year advertising contract at Bogotá’s El Dorado International Airport

By Ronnie Lovler

JCDecaux S.A. ranked as the world’s top outdoor advertising agency, has just won a nine-year advertising contract for the El Dorado International Airport in Bogotá, Colombia’s capital city.

Starting next year, the French company will display a digital network and manage the advertising spaces at El Dorado’s domestic and international terminals, as well as outside access roads. The agreement is in effect through 2027.

“We are proud have won the advertising concession for the El Dorado International Airport of Bogotá,” said Jean-Charles Decaux, Co-Chief Executive of the family-owned company. “By adding this sixth airport to its regional portfolio, JCDecaux has strengthened its presence in Colombia and Latin America.”

Álvaro González, Director of OPAIN S.A., the concession holder for the El Dorado, welcomed JcDecaux to the airport fold. “We are delighted to count on the experience of a strategic partner, globally recognized for its commitment and its excellent airport advertising management: innovative, modern and qualitative.”

The JCDecaux displays will be strategically located to be spotted by both arriving and departing passengers and provide an advertising space that will be predominantly digital to assist the airport in achieving its commercial objectives.

El Dorado International Airport is the third largest in Latin America, behind Mexico and Brazil’s São Paulo with 31 million passengers in 2016. In its 2017 rankings,

JCDecaux has a presence in 220 airports globally. The new contract in Colombia allows it to add a sixth airport to its Latin American portfolio. In the past three years, JCDecaux has obtained advertising agreements for three airports in Brazil— São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, and Brasilia as well as in Panama and Peru.
The French company has been in Colombia since 2013, when it acquired an 85% stake in Eumex in 2013. It entered into a Joint venture with Caracol Television in 2015, as well as entering into separate agreements with eight Colombian towns. Its deal with El Dorado gives JCDecaux its first national contract in Colombia in the transport sector.
