Jackie McDonagh has been appointed General Manager of ARI North America and Martin Carpenter as General Manager of ARI Ireland.

McDonagh replaces Seamus Holmes, who has resigned from ARI North America to pursue a new opportunity in Ireland. Martin Carpenter takes up the role of General Manager ARI Ireland vacated by McDonagh.

McDonagh joined ARI Ireland as Head of Retail in July 2014 and was instrumental in growing the business significantly during her tenure. She was subsequently promoted to General Manager, having led the team to a number of notable achievements, including the refurbishment of Terminal 1, winning Best Airport Retailer.

A Dublin native, Carpenter brings a wealth of downtown retail experience to his new role, having previously held senior positions with the Rubicon Group, Arcadia Group and Marks & Spencer.

McDonagh said: “I have thoroughly enjoyed working in Ireland and I am very proud of all our achievements. I’d like to thank my team, my ARI colleagues, our brand partners and all my colleagues in Dublin and Cork Airports for their tremendous support. I am excited about the next chapter in my ARI career and look forward to working alongside our team in Canada.”

Carpenter commented: “I am delighted to join ARI, and look forward to building on the solid foundations that Jackie and the team have established. I would describe myself as a career retailer and greatly look forward to working with the ARI team and the wider DAA family.”

ARI Chief Operating Officer Gerry Crawford added: “I’d like to congratulate Jackie on her appointment. She did a fantastic job for us in Ireland and I’ve no doubt that she can replicate this success in Canada. We’re also fortunate to welcome Martin to ARI, who joins us from the largest M&S store in Ireland. He has enjoyed a very impressive retail career to date and I think the entire team will benefit from his experience and know-how.

“Finally, I’d like to thank Seamus Holmes for his hard work and dedication over the years and wish him every success in his future career.”
