IAADFS announces sessions and speakers for 2017 education program


The IAADFS Duty Free Show of the Americas has always been known as an important trade show for the industry in the western hemisphere, but now for its second year the association is also offering speakers and workshop sessions. Executive Director Michael Payne has just released information about this year’s sessions, which will take place on Monday, March 27th and Tuesday, March 28th.

Growth Opportunities in the Americas – Monday, March 27, 8:00 – 8:45 am

This panel will discuss the present and future growth opportunities for duty free and travel retail in the Americas. The panel includes Gustavo Fagundes, ASUTIL President and COO of Dufry Brasil; Abe Taqtaq, FDFA President and Vice President of Windsor-Detroit Tunnel Duty Free Shop, Inc.; and Erasmo Orillac, IAADFS Chairman of the Board and CEO of Motta Internacional, SA. Moderated by Martin Moodie.

Sales and Customer Insights: Maximizing Your Potential – Monday, March 27, 8:45 – 9:30 am

Peter Mohn, Owner and CEO of m1nd-set, and Christine Martin, Managing Director of Travel Retail Training, will share their insights about techniques to increase sales volume and customer penetration, focusing on employee engagement in the duty free and travel retail channel. Join Peter and Christine to learn more about some of the unique aspects of this channel and how to leverage employee engagement for the benefit of your business. The presenters will also discuss how to attract and engage the millennial shopper and how to use social media more effectively.

Border Duty Free: Crossing the Frontier – Tuesday, March 28, 8:00 – 9:30 am

Simon Falic, Chairman of Duty Free Americas, Inc., Abe Taqtaq, Vice President of Windsor-Detroit Tunnel Duty Free Shop, Inc. and Enrique Urioste, Chief Executive Officer of Neutral Duty Free will discuss special challenges and tremendous opportunities for retailers at the land borders, from their unique geographic perspectives. Moderated by Peter Mohn.

The 2017 IAADFS Duty Free Show of the Americas brings together nearly 150 exhibitors and hundreds of buyers. The three-day event offers a social program to present valuable networking time in addition to the trade show and the new sessions.
