Tourvest names Roy Luchman salesperson of the year

Roy Luchman, cabin crewmember of Air Mauritius, was named the overall winner of the Tourvest Annual Sales Person Awards (TASPA), hosted by Tourvest Duty Free (TDF), the in-flight duty free sales business of Tourvest’s Retail Merchandising Division.

At the same time, Jacqueline Botha, cabin crewmember of Interair, won the award for the best public address category. Roy and Jacqueline were given cash prizes and hampers valued at R24,500 (US$3,000) and will be entered by Tourvest to compete at the prestigious International Sales Person of the Year Awards (ISPY), which takes place in London in September of this year.

TASPA, which was established in 2004, recognizes the ability of cabin crewmembers of airlines under TDF concession to turn passengers into shoppers. It factors in criteria such as sales techniques, product knowledge and product merchandising.

TASPA uses the same judging criteria as those used by ISPY, and therefore improves the chances of TASPA’s winners at the ISPY awards.

“We are extremely proud of Roy and Jacqueline and their achievements, which are a tribute to TDF’s success in managing in-flight duty free concessions,” says TDF’s CEO Selwyn Grimsley. “Our philosophy of partnership, technology, integration, innovation and world-class practices ensures tremendous commercial benefits for our growing list of concessionaires.”

Concessions under TDF management include TAAG Angola Airlines, Virgin Atlantic, South African Airways, Kenya Airways, South African Express, Interair and Air Mauritius
